Before the presentation of any document, to this Embassy, for attestation, they require first to be legalised or attested by, either the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) or Governors' Offices of Jersey, Isle of Man and Guernsey, the Irish Ministry for Foreign Affairs or the Islandic Ministry for Foreign Affairs, according to the region where the document originated.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office will only, accept the original documents which have been signed by: The UK Registrars of, Companies, Births & Deaths & Marriages, but other UK documents should be first authenticated by a solicitor or notarized by a Notary Public as a preliminary to their legalization.

Documents from the UAE need to be endorsed by the UAE Ministry for Foreign Affairs before this Embassy could attest them. Documents from British Overseas Territories will require attestation by the Government of the Territory concerned prior to submission for the FCO legalisation.

The Embassy will accept academic qualifications from the United Kingdom, Iceland and the Republic of Ireland, only, provided they are first legalised or attested either by the FCO, the Icelandic or the Irish Ministry of Foreign Affairs as applicable, but whether you are doing the original or a copy, it should be done on the document itself, not on a notarial certificate.

For getting an Emirates ID card, the applicant has to fill the eForm in one of the authorised typing centres .

An SMS containing information about when and where to register will follow the application .The applicant will proceed afterwards to the registration centre mentioned in the SMS to complete the procedures.

Emirates ID within 24 hours

Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (FAIC) provides an urgent service for getting the Emirates ID card within 24 hours. The service is known as ‘Fawri’ and is available against the regular stated fees plus an urgent service fee.

The service is available for all age groups for UAE nationals and GCC nationals officially residing in UAE and can be obtained for:

  • First Time Registration
  • Renewal of Expired Cards
  • Lost or Damaged Cards.


Power of Attorney and similar legally binding documents should be original and signed in the presence of a Notary Public prior to submission to the FCO or other relevant local authority.
Any undertaking by a single party or agreement between two or more parties may require an attestation. Some typical documents that need to be attested include marriage certificates, Memorandum of Association for LLC formation, establishing commercial agent, withdrawal of partnership, clearance certificates, individuals maid contracts with some consulates etc.

The basic charges are as follows below.

  • Dh1700 (LLC Memorandum of Association) + Service charge
  • Dh1210 (LLC Amendment Contract) + Service charge
  • Dh410 (Individual Employment Contract- for Housemaid) + Service charge Amount varies depends on the document. Collect documents from second official and go to stamping desk to put court stamp on all pages. Again return to Notary who will sign on the document and store one original in the archives.
